As per a report from SportItalia this morning, Premier League giants Liverpool have switched their attentions from AS Roma sensation Alisson to Lazio’s Thomas Strakosha, as the Reds ramp up their pursuit of a new goalkeeper.

Liverpool are known to have been keeping an eye out for reinforcements in the goalkeeping department for some time now, with the costly performance of Loris Karius in the Champions League final having since seen links between Liverpool and Alisson intensify (though an explanation has since emerged for Karius’ nightmare in Kiev).
However, after reports over the last week began to surface that the Reds had abandoned their pursuit of the Giallorossi star due to the hefty price-tag on his head, European champions Real Madrid have subsequently moved firmly into the driver’s seat for Alisson, with Liverpool having been forced to look elsewhere for additions between the posts for next season.
Lazio standout
The likes of Jack Butland, Bernd Leno and Jan Oblak have been named as alternatives, though the latter is thought to hold an even larger price-tag than Alisson, while Leno looks set to join Arsenal imminently.

But, as per the aforementioned report from SportItalia this morning, another goalkeeping target has today emerged for the Merseysiders, in the form of Lazio star Thomas Strakosha.
Strakosha, son of legendary Albanian international Foto, came up through Lazio’s youth ranks, before breaking into the club’s first-team setup during the 2016/17 campaign.
And the 23-year-old has since gone on to establish himself as the Biancocelesti’s undisputed first-choice, having permanently ousted Federico Marchetti this past season.
Strakosha played from the start in all 38 of Lazio’s Serie A fixtures this season, impressing on his way to 11 clean sheets behind an oft-shaky defence.
Hefty valuation
SportItalia claim that Liverpool’s interest in the services of Strakosha has seen Lazio slap a 40 million Euro price-tag on the 4-time capped Albanian international, though, with it remaining to be seen whether the English giants are put off by such a valuation.
