Paul Pogba: I’m the most criticised player in the world

On Sunday morning, French TV show Telefoot broadcasted an exclusive live interview with Didier Deschamps and Paul Pogba.

On Sunday, France kicked off their 2018 World Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over Australia.

Man United’s Pogba was credited with the winner, even though it took a huge deflection into the net.

Overall most agreed that France’s performance wasn’t great, including Pogba. He told Telefoot “as the coach said, we have to do better.”

Yet Pogba’s more eye-catching comments came over how he feels victimised. The Man United star argued:

I am less entitled to make mistakes than others. I went from the biggest transfer in the world to the most criticised player in the world.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Pogba

Pogba isn’t the only one who thinks he’s victimised.

On Sunday, former Man United and Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a guest pundit on BeIN Sports.

Ibra always had a close relationship with the French midfielder, as they share the same agent: Mino Raiola. So it’s probably not a surprise the LA Galaxy striker defended his buddy. Zlatan said:

Pogba is controversial, the media always talks about him and I think this is out of jealousy.

He has a big salary and always plays at the big matches and tournaments.

He is the best midfielder in the world and because of that he has a lot of haters.

France 2 – Australia 1

Antoine Griezmann fired France into the lead against the Aussies with a 58th minute penalty. The lead lasted just four minutes, before Aston Villa’s Mile Jedinak levelled from the penalty spot for the Socceroos.

A Pogba effort in the 82nd minute diverted off of Aziz Bahich for the Les Blues winner.
