Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones has this afternoon provided an update on the future of in-demand AS Roma shot-stopper Alisson.
World-class
Alisson, full name Alisson Becker, is a 25-year-old Brazilian international, and emerged as one of the most impressive goalkeepers in world football after taking over as Roma’s no.1 this past season, following the end of Wojciech Szczęsny’s loan with the club.
The former Internacional star has already earned 26 international caps, and is currently viewed as the Selecao’s first-choice between the posts, ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson.
Anfield links
Alisson’s stellar form over the last 10 months has seen the South American linked with a whole host of top European clubs, with English giants Liverpool long named as the side expressing the most genuine interest in his services.
The Reds are known to have been keeping an eye out for reinforcements in the goalkeeping department for some time now, with the costly performance of Loris Karius in the Champions League final having since seen links between Liverpool and Alisson intensify (though an explanation has since emerged for Karius’ nightmare in Kiev).

Bernabeu bound?
However, after several reports over the last week suggested that Liverpool had pulled the plug on their interest in the Brazilian due to his hefty price-tag, claims began to mount that Real Madrid had moved very much into the driver’s seat for Alisson, with Los Blancos ready to splash out the necessary sum to replace current first-choice Keylor Navas.
And, as per the aforementioned report from Dean Jones this afternoon, Real are now said to be inching ever-closer to securing a deal for the Roma standout, with another possible explanation for Liverpool having cooled their interest in Alisson having also been provided:
Madrid now reported to be closing in on Alisson. Fits in with what Roma expected to happen—am also told the player has reservations about living in Liverpool.
