England manager Gareth Southgate has told the squad who will be starting in their World Cup opener against Tunisia, Fabian Delph revealed.
He noted that despite some players obviously missing out on the XI, they are all together as a team and want to stick together, and work together.

“The preparation remains the same, we’re a team, all about the team. Everyone sticks together. The manager chooses the best team.”

Delph also added that his domestic boss, Pep Guardiola has influenced the side, and the England set-up is reaping the rewards from that as well, something that can only help them come the World Cup.
“Obviously the players at Manchester City, the influence on us, you can see the changes some of the players have made this season, he’s helped us improve.
“Coming in to the set-up, the lads are confident and these are exciting times,”
Shared pressure
Delph also spoke about the atmosphere in the England camp, and said that the players are all being very supportive of each other, and touched on the issues with Danny Rose, who has come out and opened up about his mental health issues.

The Man City player noted that he’s very close to Rose, yet wasn’t aware of his struggles, and said that he has no doubts Rose will be fine at the World Cup, noting he has good people around him and ones who want to help him.
“I wasn’t aware. He’s my best mate, I’ve known him since we were 10 and we’re very close,” he added.
“We’ve spoken since and he’s a strong guy mentally with great people around. He’ll be fine going into the World Cup.”
