Didier Drogba has defended Paul Pogba and claimed that the player is trying to win Jose Mourinho’s trust back.
Man United boss Mourinho isn’t a huge fan of his players taking to social media and promoting products – and indeed themselves, and now Drogba has noted Pogba’s lack of Twitter and Instagram posts of late may mean he’s trying to simply focus on his football.
Drogba is a man who knows Mourinho better than most, and was one of his all-time favourite players – and offered some kind words to Pogba, along with the advice to keep doing what he’s doing in terms of keeping his head down – and that it will pay off and help.
“I think he does deliver,” Drogba told the BBC.
“The fact that he’s had difficult moments in the last few months at United [has meant] he’s been quiet on social media.
“He’s been focusing on getting in the starting line-up. I think this will help him. He wants to prove to people that he can be the man.”

Drogba also made it clear after the game that he felt Pogba had done more than enough to earn praise, and that he was key when it came to the passing from the middle of the park.
Pogba of course scored the winner for France, and was bright throughout the game.
The pundit added: “I think he was influential during the game.
“Playing passes for [Kylian] Mbappe, [Antoine] Griezmann and [Ousmane] Dembele – he was alternating long and short passing.”

The former Chelsea striker noted that it was Olivier Giroud’s introduction that helped the most, with the forward allowing Pogba the chance to create more space and offering additional options up front – something Giroud has also done for Chelsea this season.
“The introduction of Giroud helped him to create a link between the no.9 and the no.10 so he could lay-off and have more options.”
