Jose Mourinho is furious with Liverpool’s Champions League help

Manchester United vs Liverpool

On Thursday the first draft of the 2018-19 Premier League fixture list was released.

Matches will of course be subject to change over the course of the season.

Yet, in the Times on Friday, the rivalry between Man United and Liverpool is already stoked ahead of the new campaign.

The broadsheet announce that Jose Mourinho is already “upset at Liverpool’s Champions League home advantage”.

Liverpool, Man United & Champions League

Have the Premier League offered Liverpool an unfair advantage over their chief league rivals? The Times report the following:

José Mourinho has been left angered by Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures, with Jürgen Klopp’s side having been given six home games in the weekend slots that follow Champions League group matches next season.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have all been given an even split of three home and three away games on those match days, making Liverpool’s schedule appear somewhat easier.

To be clear, the Times lack any quotes from Mourinho to support their ‘anger’ claim. Yet the paper contrast the Special One’s reaction to that of Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino, who are both said to be “relaxed”.
